What is a webinar? Well, just as the title says, it is the new, more convenient, more cost effective seminar.
Webinars are nothing more than seminars that are held on the internet. In fact, when you compare the two, the only real difference is the interaction. You see, during a seminar there is very little audience participation.
If you do have a question and answer session, it will likely not be very long and chances are your question will not be answered. Of course, the setting is dramatically different as well.
However, with a webinar, the audience and the presenter are more involved together thanks to speakerphone or telephone communication between the two. There are many advantages this type of web conferencing, one of which is its money and time saving advantage. Additionally, you do not have to worry about traveling, hotels, conference rooms, and other such common aspects of a seminar.
All you need is a computer, internet capabilities, a speakerphone or telephone, a webinar software and a provider. The only thing your attendees need is a computer and internet connection. What could be easier?
With the internet being the home of many various different business technologies, it just makes sense that you should expand the horizons of your business and reach an audience globally.
Well, that is a good question. The first place to start is with proper planning. You want to make sure you plan every aspect; this includes goals, promotion, budget, registration, speakers, and schedules.
When planning webinars, make sure that you keep the topic or subject in tune with your overall marketing plan or strategy. You want to be certain that this web conference will help you achieve your goals and marketing strategy within your business.
When setting the schedule, make sure you set it for a time in which you can achieve the optimal amount of people. Consider your target audience and cater to them. If you are trying to reach a national audience, mid afternoon is a great time.
If you are looking for a global audience, you have to find a happy medium. In most cases, a Tuesday or Wednesday is a good day because the beginning or end of a week is usually very hectic for most people.
You will then want to market your webinar. Make sure your topic is appealing and interesting to your targeted audience. Use the internet to its maximum capabilities. Send emails and advertise, get the word out there.
Create content that is interesting and informative, this is a great way to involve your staff in marketing and sales. They typically know what your target audience wants, needs, and is looking for. After all, you have some things to work against when it comes to distractions, such as telephones, emails, and the internet overall. One of the disadvantages of a webinar is the fact that distraction is very easy.
Subsequent webinars are usually much easier than the first, for the simple fact that you can ask your audience for opinions after the first has concluded. This will help you understand what you could change, what you could keep the same, in other words what you did right or wrong in their eyes.
The key is to provide real and solid value to the audience. Make sure that you have a hard copy of your presentation, winging it will take up time, your audience is taking time out of their day to spend it with you, make sure they get a true value.
Lastly, pick the right online conferencing provider for your needs. There are various things you want to look for. For instance, does the provider have the capabilities to handle the volume you may have for an audience?
Not all providers can handle large groups, you should find a provider that has the ability to handle the group you envision for your online meeting. Furthermore, you definitely want to take a look at their support system. If you were to run into trouble or problems during your web conference, you want a company that will be right there to provide support immediately.
You will also want to look for a provider that offers the features
you may need, such as software, time limits, equipment, speeds, and other such things. Most of all the provider should be reliable and dedicated to making your webinar run smoothly and efficiently every time!
