Webcast is broadcasting by either audio or video media across the web, using video and/or audio sessions. It means you can send media from only one location and broadcast it simultaneously, making live video and audio a completely new experience.
Using Webcasting can enhance your web site by providing entertaining and informative material in a way many people are already used to experiencing as with radio and television.
There are various providers and services available. One example is ON24 and their services, such as Webcast Center or Simple, ON24 Simple Audio, Demo and Podcast. With each of these services, you get different ways to get your live broadcasts to the public.
The Center version gives you interactive, rich featured audio and video reaching thousands at the same time. Alternatively, the Simple version allows you the freedom to self-publish it in an affordable way.
Maybe you do not need both video and audio. Well, ON24 has it covered with their Simple Audio. With this application, you can provide on-demand, self-published audio while Demo version provides a way to add products to Webcasts.
The most interesting has to be the Podcast. With this neat way of casting, you can send the information to portable devices. Using this effective method helps you to reach those who do not have time to stop or maybe look for new ideas on their ride to and from work. This version comes free with all Center services. However, with registration, reporting it can stand alone.
As you can imagine, there are multiple Pros, such as getting your product or company out to more people than average commercials alone. Another Pro is obviously providing this service free.
The biggest Con is for those with slower Internet connections. However, if you choose what to send and keep it to the point, even that can be worked around.
When deciding on which service to go with, you have to first decide what can you and cannot afford. Also, is it worth paying for. Since many users provide it free through various sites, how can you not afford to look into it at least?
In summary, using Webcast
is a proven way to reach thousands of people in various ways, spinning a new twist on an old invention. A bit of advice, many people have high-speed Internet, though there are still quite a few who rely on dial-up. These dial-up user can still be reached using an online broadcast.
You just need to keep to the facts and, possibly, even provide an alternate web space for them that has less information streaming through.
